With the heavy rain showers on Wednesday and the beautiful sunshine on Friday- it certainly has been an interesting time.

The highlight for us this week was being able to take the children back to the main school building for Pe sessions. During the next few weeks we hope to use the hall more and also the jubilee room and library with our children. This is one of the benefits of being a school nursery so that we can share the school facilities. Due to the pandemic we have been quite isolated in our own little building at times but this is changing which is very exciting for us all.

We have continued our theme of The Jungle and this week our focus text has been Handa’s Surprise. The children have enjoyed acting out the story remembering which animal took which fruit from Handa’s basket. Also, during snack time, we have been trying different fruits - water melon and melon seems to be the favourite.

We have been talking about Remembrance Day and using the lovely animation from CBeebies which explains it so beautifully and simply. Ask your child about the rabbit in the film. The children made a big poppy to take home. We joined the rest of the school for the two minutes silence, and we were so proud of how respectful the children were.

We have even started thinking about Christmas (already) and we are learning our songs for our little performance on Thursday 9th December, and we hope to see you there.

We have used the story - We’re Going on a Bear Hunt by Michael Rosen, as our main focus for the week. The children have enjoyed acting out the story and creating the different parts of the story. We have made bear masks, bear collage pictures and we have made homes for the bears. The children had fun during a yoga session where they used the rhyme to create different yoga exercises. We made bear homes outside with the large waffle bricks and foam bricks and the playhouse became The Three Bears cottage for the week.

We are excited about next week and beginning our Christmas activities – there will be glitter everywhere!!!!

It’s been a very noisy week, as we’ve explored all the animal sounds. Sometimes it felt we really were in a farm. Our focus book has been Farmer Duck and the children have loved the story and enjoyed acting it out in the role play area. We have been very creative too and made rainbow ducks and hens, a giant Farmer Duck and a cow and lots of piglets and a pig.

In circle times we have talked about being a kind friend, to link to this week’s whole school theme of Its cool to be kind.

Due to the changing weather we decided to bring the outdoors in! We had the slide and other apparatus set up inside and the children had great fun playing on these.

Thank you for your continued support.

Our focus this week has been zoo animals and the book “Dear Zoo” The children have made a giant giraffe and a giant lion which look wild on the Nursery Wall! This story has led to some fantastic animal dances! We have used all sorts of creative resources to make animal masks.

Outside play this week has been fun as always. The children have had some amazing ideas using soft bricks, giant Brio construction and Duplo and made some lovely animal homes. They also followed clues to hunt for hidden zoo animals in the garden.

On Friday we watched the Cbeebies Poppies animation. The children made their own poppies.

As the weather continues to be dry, we have been able to spend lots of time outside and enjoy the fresh air and the autumn leaves and acorns!
