Information about Ash Base:
In Year 4, our children are encouraged to show independence, curiosity and academic confidence. This serves as a key bridge between Lower Key Stage 2 and Upper Key Stage 2 (years 5 and 6).
The learning journey in Year 4 covers amongst others: developing mature writing through varied vocabulary and sentence structures (English), Mastering 4-digit numbers, formal multiplication/division methodology (Maths), studying the primary states of matter, electricity, sound and food chains (Science), the legacy of the Roman Empire, the importance of the River Nile for the Egyptians (History) and the water cycle (Geography).
A key milestone in Year 4 is the mandatory Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) in June.
Key events include our Roman Day where children have the opportunity to dress as a senator, a Roman soldier, a Celtic warrior or even Boudicca or Julius Caesar, and then re-enact the Roman invasion
of Britain.
Classroom culture is built upon the school’s core values of Respectful Relationships, Readiness and Engagement.
