Verwood Church of England First School and Nursery

Our School Milk Scheme

Our school provides a milk scheme that is available to all of our pupils. School milk is free for under-5s, and for over-5s it is available at a subsidised* price. If your child starts with us from the age of 4, we have already registered your child for their free school milk by providing Cool Milk with your child's name and date of birth. Please advise school if your child doesn’t like or cannot have milk.

Free milk will continue until the Friday before your child’s fifth birthday. Prior to your child’s fifth birthday, if you wish for your child to continue receiving milk, simply register with Cool Milk directly via their website Once registered, you will receive a payment request around four weeks before their birthday - if you wish your child to continue to receive school milk, simply make a payment. You can register anytime before your child turns 5, but at the latest, you will need to register by Tuesday of the previous week you wish the milk to start.

Each child will receive a 189ml portion of semi-skimmed milk every day, delivered fresh and chilled to the classroom. Their school milk will not only provide them with essential nutrients, but as it is rehydrating and energy boosting it also bridges the gap between breakfast and lunch to help children stay focused. * The UK government continues to support school milk. Milk for under-5s is fully funded by DHSC via the Nursery Milk Scheme. Milk for over-5s is subsidised by Defra via the School Milk Scheme.
